1. Introduction
Personica ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that lets you create AI-powered personas of people in your life and have meaningful conversations with them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
By using Personica, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Birth data — date, time, and place of birth you optionally enter to enrich a persona's character profile.
Persona names and settings — names, descriptions, personality notes, and configuration you assign to personas.
Chat messages — the text you send during conversations with AI personas.
Automatically Collected Information
Device identifiers — anonymous device or installation ID used to associate your data with your device without requiring an account.
Usage data — feature interactions, session length, and error logs, collected in aggregate to improve the app.
Message usage counters — monthly and weekly message counts stored locally on your device to enforce plan limits. These reset automatically (weekly on Mondays, monthly at the start of each billing month) and are not transmitted to our servers.
Purchase data — subscription and in-app purchase status managed through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it for any purpose outside of operating the app.
4. AI Processing
Chat messages you send are routed through our backend API to Google Gemini AI (Google LLC) to generate responses. All messages are transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS).
We do not permanently store your individual chat messages on our servers beyond what is needed to maintain your in-app conversation history (as described in Section 5). AI providers process your messages in real time and do not retain them beyond the session for training purposes.
5. Data Retention
Conversation history is stored locally on your device for all users. There is no server-side deletion of chat history. You control your history — it remains on your device until you delete a persona or uninstall the app.
Persona data is retained for as long as the persona exists in the app.
Message usage counters (monthly and weekly) are stored locally and reset automatically. They are not tied to your identity.
Credit pack data — purchased credit balances and their purchase dates are stored locally on your device. Credits expire 12 months from the date of purchase and are removed automatically upon expiry.
You can delete any persona and its associated data at any time within the app.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored locally on your device and, where necessary for app functionality, on secured cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. No system is 100% secure; we encourage you to protect access to your device.
7. Third-Party Services
Personica uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
Apple App Store — in-app purchase processing
Google Gemini API (Google LLC) — AI model inference for chat responses
Vercel — backend API hosting
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services.
8. Children's Privacy
Personica is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction or deletion of your data
Withdraw consent for data processing
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (EEA/UK users: your national DPA; California users: California Attorney General)

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
